Home of the Savages!

In Riggins, Idaho, nestled in the lower Idaho panhandle, you'll find Salmon River School District 243. With around 140 students from kindergarten to 12th grade, led by a dedicated team of educators & administrators, our district is devoted to enhancing student learning and success across all grade levels.

Overlooking the picturesque backdrop of deep mountain canyons with the Main and Little Salmon rivers flowing nearby and the Snake River just to the west, Riggins earns its moniker as "The Whitewater Capital" of Idaho. The surrounding area offers abundant recreational opportunities, creating a natural environment for learning. Our backyard boasts diverse wildlife, including elk, deer, bear, wild turkey, grouse, and chukar, along with premier Chinook Salmon and Steelhead fishing spots in the nearby national forest areas and waters.

Despite our mild winter climate, Riggins is conveniently located just an hour away from major ski areas. Positioned 150 miles north of Boise and 110 miles south of Lewiston, our community takes great pride in our children, schools, and rural lifestyle.
