FFA

What is FFA?

The acronym "FFA" represents the Future Farmers of America. Established in 1928, FFA embodies an intracurricular, student-led organization dedicated to enhancing the world through agricultural education and awareness. It transcends the scope of traditional farming, embracing individuals aspiring to careers as educators, medical professionals, scientists, entrepreneurs, and more. FFA paves the way for excellence in premier leadership, personal growth, and career achievement.

Within FFA, opportunities abound through Career Development Events, including livestock evaluations and agricultural mechanics, alongside Leadership Development Events such as parliamentary procedure and public speaking. Salmon River FFA, initially chartered in 2007, was re-chartered in 2023. Our esteemed advisor, James Boggan, a native of Riggins, returned in 2022 to serve as the Agricultural Education instructor and FFA Advisor.

James holds a Bachelor of Science in Rangeland Ecology and Management from the University of Idaho and is a graduate of Leadership Idaho Agriculture. With extensive industry experience in livestock, agriculture, agricultural mechanics, natural resources, leadership, and rangeland management, James channels his expertise to benefit Salmon River FFA and Salmon River Jr/Sr High School.

FFA members cultivate the leadership skills necessary to navigate tomorrow's challenges. They grasp the significance of governmental procedures, diverse job sectors, entrepreneurship, and the importance of fostering a network of industry colleagues and future leaders.
